This 7 days Uganda birding safari includes a primate trekking activity in Kibale forest National park and it will definitely reward you with the most of the Albertine rift endemics. It will start from Uganda’s largest protected area in Murchison via Ziwa rhino sanctuary to the primates capital of the world and then proceed to the famous Queen Elizabeth National Park

GORILLA AND CHIMP PERMITS
It is not possible to ‘reserve’ gorilla and chimpanzee permits. Therefore, we can only buy them after your bookings/down-payment and it all depends on availability.
TRANSPORT

Day 1: Transfer to Murchison falls National park via ziwa rhino sanctuary
Very early in the morning after breakfast(6:00am), you will be picked up by your guide and then transfer to the mighty Murchison falls National park through the famous Luweero Triangle, have lunch and then proceed to the park via ziwa rhino sanctuary. You will then proceed to the park through Masindi, and then do a mini game drive to the top of the falls. This is the world’s strongest waterfalls, you will have a chance of sighting some of the species like, the Red-winged pritilia, white-crested turaco, pel’s-fishing owl, Rock Pranticole, Bat Hawk and so many wildlife. Later you proceed to the lodge for overnight and dinner.

Day 2: Birding inside Murchison Falls National Park- Launch Cruise
Today after breakfast(7:00am) with your packed lunch, you will head out for a bird watching game drive through the Northern section of the park. You should really expect a lot to see and some of them includes the rare foxy cisticola, Red-Necked Falcon, black-billed barbet, carmine bee eater, swallow tailed bee eater and the African fish eagle, woodchat-shrike, beautiful sunbird, harlequin quail, red-winged gray warbler, African quail-finch, common button-quail, Abyssinian ground hornbill and of course the rare shoebill. Not forgetting the vast wild animals along the game drive like the Jackson’s hartebeests, Uganda Kobs, Waterbucks, Oribi, Elephants, lions and yes the leopards if lucky. You will then drive to the starting point of the boat for a launch cruise along the famous albert Nile or the bottom of the falls. Having vast chances of sighting some aquatic species, like the African Fish Eagles, African Jacana, Egrets to mention but a few. Animals like the Nile Crocodiles at full glance, Hippos, Elephants quenching their thirsty among others.
It takes about 2-3 hours, then after head back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Full Day Birding in Kanio-Pabidi, Budongo Forest
Very early in the morning after breakfast(7:00am), we head for a full day birding experience in budongo forest with our packed lunch. Searching for some of the forest species in the Kanio-Pabidi, this is the famous birding spot in the park and expect a lot to see like the, Forest Francolin, Rufous-crowned Eromela, Dusky Long-Tailed Cuckoo, Ituri Batis, Black Bishop, African Dwarf King fisher, Pygmy King Fisher, Brown Twin spot, Yellow billed barbet, Red-tailed ant thrush, PiedHornbill, Fire crested alethe, Spotted greenbul, Chestnut-capped flycatcher, White-thighed hornbill etc. After check-in to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
Today after breakfast(8:00am), transfer to Kibale Forest National Park, through hoima, it takes about 9-10hrs drive. So you will have lunch in hoima and then en-route to the park through fort portal with some birding spots along the way. Arriving in the park in the evening, check-in at your lodge and have a relaxation.
Dinner & Overnight at: Chimpundu Safari Lodge
Day 5: Chimpanzee Trekking in the Park & Bigodi Wetland
Very in the morning as directed by your guide before breakfast you will head to Kanyanchu the park’s headquarters and then proceed to the forest searching for the GREEN BREASTED PITTA as the main highlight of this day. Continue with check listing some other species, come back at the lodge for breakfast and then return to the headquarters for the chimpanzee trekking briefing before proceeding to the forest to meet our closest relatives. This activity usually takes about 3-4hrs depending on the trackers. You will also tick some species of birds like: White Napped pigeon, black backed twin spot, Grey-throated flycatcher, Abyssinian Ground Thrush, Scaly Francolin, White-spotted fluffy tail, Narina Trogon, Black Bee-Eater and the rare Shining Blue King Fisher if lucky. Return to the lodge for lunch, relax and in the evening head to the Bigodi wetland sanctuary for a swamp walk.
Dinner & Overnight at: Chimpundu Safari Lodge
Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park-Boat Cruise
Today not so early(9:00am), have your breakfast and then transfer to the “medley of wonders” I mean Queen Elizabeth National Park through Kasese along the foothills of the Mountains of the Moon.
Reaching into the park in the afternoon, you will check-in at Kikorongo Safari Lodge have lunch and then proceed to the boat cruise on the famous Kazinga Channel. Cruising along the 47km channel that connects lakes Edward & George, your chances of spotting many aquatic birdlife is at glance. A lot of wildlife quenching their thirsty will also be an opportunity. Imagine seeing the world’s largest land mammal sipping some water! It takes about 2-3hrs. then after go back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Early Morning Game Drive/ Transfer to Kampala
Today before breakfast(6:00am), you will head to the Kasenyi Plains for a morning game drive which will reward you with some of the nocturnal like, leopards, lions, hyenas, and other wildlife species like Elephants, kobs, waterbucks, buffalos among others. Remember more than 600 species of birds call Queen Elizabeth National Park home and some of them you will spot are the, Pallid Harrier, African Wattled plover, Brown Chested Plover, Jackson’s Francolin, Montagu’s Harrier, Green winged pytilia, Kitlitz plover among others. It takes about 3 hrs. and then go back to the lodge have breakfast and sign-out. We start the journey back to Kampala, having lunch in mbarara and then proceed to Kampala with a stop at the equator for pictures. Reaching Kampala in the evening and then drive straight to the airport for your journey back home.
