Visit habituated gorillas in Uganda’s Mgahinga gorilla national park and Bwindi impenetrable forest national park. Rwanda Volcanoes National Park and Virunga National Park in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
Tracking Lowland Gorillas in Kahuzi Biega National Park, located in Democratic Republic of Congo.
Gorilla habituation experience is only done in Bwindi Impenetrable forest national park, and visitors are given 4 hours to see semi-habituated gorilla family.
Chimpanzee habituation experience.
Its only available in Kibale Forest National park. it gives more time to see chimpanzees from morning to evening
Chimpanzee trekking
Habituated chimpanzees can be trekked in Uganda’s Kibale Forest National Park, Budongo forest reserve, Kalinzu forest, Kyambura gorge and Ngamba island chimpanzee sanctuary. In Rwanda chimpanzees are found in Nyungwe Forest National Park.
Kibale forest national park in Uganda is home to 12 species of primates in addition to chimpanzees. Nature walks offer access into the forest to search for primates like black and white colobus monkey, red tailed monkey, blue monkey, red colobus monkey, grey cheeked mangabay among others.
In Nyungwe Forest national park there are troops of up to 300 black and white colobus monkeys. These monkeys stay in trees most of the time, thus you may not view them gathering in large numbers mentioned above.
Golden monkeys are only found in Mgahinga gorilla national park and Volcanoes National Park.

It’s the shortest gorilla tour but a challenge in a way that it starts 4:00 am (East African Time). you should be prepared to wake that early for a 2-hour car transfer from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park and return to Kigali after tracking gorillas.

Why primate trekking is good for conservation and development?
Mountain gorillas may not be the most important thing to see in life. But let’s face it, gorillas are endangered animals and its tourism and conservation that has helped their numbers recover. When forests are protected, other wildlife is also conserved.
